The construction activities to improve the energy efficiency of the kindergarten “Detelinka” in Kriva Palanka are underway

With an infrastructure grant from Norway, the kindergarten “Detelinka” in Kriva Palanka will improve its energy efficiency, the working conditions and the childcare environment for around 380 children and 50 employees.

The kindergarten was constructed in 1974 and has not underwent any major reconstruction since. The 90,000 USD grant will be used to construct energy efficient façade, install new windows and provide indoor carpentry works, while the replacement of the asbestos roof will be funded by the kindergarten.

The construction works started late October and depending on the weather conditions are expected to be finished by February next year.

This investment significantly reduces the health risks for the children and employees caused by the obsolete asbestos roof, while the heating and cooling costs are expected to be reduced by 30% and the expected savings are to be used for further improvement of the functionality of the building.

The grant is one of the four infrastructure grants that have been awarded under the Enhanced social inclusion, living conditions and local infrastructure component. Beside Kriva Palanka, the municipalities of Makedonski Brod, Zhelino and Kavadarci are the recipients of the remaining grants.
